Discovery has internships during the Spring and Summer semesters. We do not offer Fall or Winter internships at this time.

Students must be a rising Junior, Senior, or Graduate Student enrolled full time at an accredited college or university to participate in our Internship Program. Proof of enrollment will be required if selected. Students must also have the legal right to work in the United States and have a 3.0 or higher GPA. Unfortunately recent graduates are not eligible for the program.

Our program will remain entirely virtual until further notice. Once we return to having internships in the office, a portion of our internships will remain entirely virtual.

Due to the high number of applications we receive each semester we are unable to respond to individual requests for status updates. You may be contacted for an interview any time between September and December for our spring semester and February through April for our summer semester. Please refer to the timeline section above for a more in depth timeline.

Projects as a Software Engineer Intern may include building SVOD streaming applications, evolving content discovery and exploration through ML, commerce integrations, APIs, designing products to prioritize security, developing and improving payment services, and more. You’ll get an opportunity to think about scale, resiliency, and how to make your features production ready. Previous interns have started making improvements to our production environments within the first two weeks of joining the team. Ultimately, the projects you’ll work on will depend on your areas of interest.

In terms of languages, we speak a little bit of everything - Swift 5/Swift UI, Kotlin, Java, TypeScript, Javascript, Ruby, Vue.js, React, Brightscript, GraphQL on AWS container-based and serverless stacks.

As a Product Management intern you’ll work on the same products and features as the wider Product Management teams. We want interns to deeply understand the functions of product management and product design at the end of their internship by giving them an end to end view of the function by providing them hands-on experience learning. PM interns will participate in all aspects of product discovery, delivery, and assessing outcomes. We will coach PM interns on participating and conducting user research, understanding customer behavior through quantitative and qualitative analysis, evaluating opportunities using a series of inputs, frameworks for prioritization, and how to partner effectively with design and engineering to create solutions with a customer first mindset. PM interns will learn best practices of GTM planning, as well measuring and assessing outcomes.

The Data Science and Analytics team is focused on driving better understanding of our customers through data and scientific methods. We do so by collecting data, applying business logic to the data and converting that data into reports and insights. We also leverage machine learning to improve the customer experience across our products. We are an end-to-end analytics team, and have skills within the team to ingest, collect, clean, transform data and explore, report, build models and communicate with internal and external stakeholders to make meaningful impact in the organization. As an intern, you will focus on a specific problem area to solve with guidance and mentorship from senior team members. You will develop a solution using technical and mathematical concepts learnt in academics and apply them to customer and product data in real-life environments. Your solution will be used along with other solutions within the team to drive deeper understanding of user’s behavior and/or product feature usage.

All UK Discovery and Eurosport internships start in July each year. They run for a 12 month period from that date.

Students in their sandwich year of university and candidates who have graduated within the last 12 months are our main source of candidates for this programme. However, there are certain business areas that are open to considering talented and creative individuals without a degree – so if you are curious, creative, passionate, and feel you can add value to our business, get in touch!

We typically start advertising in December/January for a July start.

If selected for an internship you will be responsible for securing your own housing. But we do have some information that we can send your way – in addition to connecting you with other interns who may be open to seeking housing in groups.

If your application is successful after initial screening, you will be invited to create a video recording to introduce yourself to us! More information will be sent to those who are invited to this stage.
